Post Holdings Farm Manager in Canby, Oregon
JOB SUMMARY :
The Canby Farm Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Canby layer facilities and provides operational support to shell egg processing. As such, directs and manages all layer farm operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities.
Directs the Canby layer operations and provides operational support to Canby shell egg processing facilities, maximizing resources to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence and economic goals.
Supervises employees by training, developing, assigning duties, disciplining, hiring, and terminating personnel.
Ensures that company policies and procedures are followed, making sure that the company is in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Ensures that Company policies are applied in a fair and consistent manner.
Oversees the maintenance of equipment and facilities, ensuring that the appropriate systems for scheduling maintenance, and ordering parts and supplies are in place.
Gathers daily production data for record keeping purposes and analysis. Develops reports and charts as appropriate.
Maintains compliance and provides supporting documentation to manage UEP, CDFA and FDA farm audits
Ensures that the health of birds is monitored and takes corrective action when needed, as directed by and or in conjunction with the company or consulting veterinarian.
Responds to pullet and layer house environmental alarms during off hours and addresses emergency situations when needed
Recognizes capital project needs, coordinates capital project requests, and oversees implementation.
Recognizes potential areas to add value to the company.
Provides a safe work environment for employees.
Coordinates service crews to ensure work done is timely and of acceptable quality.
Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations.
Encourages suggestions from subordinates which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs.
Communicates with upper and senior management to discuss issues pertaining to the farm operations.
Keeps General Manager informed on operating and/or employee problems which may require their attention or knowledge.
Responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment by actively participating in, supporting and enforcing the company health and safety programs and Oregon’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Bachelor’s degree or specialized training in Animal Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a minimum of 5-7 year- experience in production and supervision.
Supervising personnel in a production environment.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
