Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Employee Safety and Food Safety are the highest priorities within the MFI integrated supply chain. The Director of Food Safety and Quality Systems is a key position in the leadership and maintenance of the organizational priorities, the safety of its customers, and the integrity of the brand. The Director of Food Safety and Quality Systems is a pivotal leadership role charged with spearheading the development and implementation of strategic initiatives pertaining to food safety and quality, with direct responsibility for the leadership of quality systems. This position will orchestrate the comprehensive design and execution of systems and programs, leveraging advanced risk assessment techniques to foster continuous improvement in food safety and quality standards across our manufacturing facilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Champion quality systems within the company, acting as a technical authority on food safety and quality systems and industry standards. Develop and maintain the technology platforms utilized to manage all FSQ related data, including Intelex, RedZone, SharePoint, etc. Lead and direct food safety endeavors across the supply chain, crafting strategic plans, defining objectives, and establishing priorities. Communicate annual strategic plans, delineating objectives and actions related to food safety and quality systems. Function as a technical expert regarding food safety and quality systems within the company, including company policy, FSMA final rules, GFSI Food Standard, Sanitation, cGMPs and cGLPs. Ensure seamless alignment of food safety and quality initiatives with broader supply chain goals and overarching organizational strategies. Integrate stringent food safety and quality benchmarks into key cross-functional processes. Identify, assess, and address areas of potential improvement or concern related to food safety and quality systems. Harness continuous improvement methodologies and industry best practices to optimize food safety and quality protocols. Act as a liaison between the Food Safety and Quality function and other business units, enhancing visibility and adoption of food safety and quality systems. Maintain a strong technical knowledge of all product categories produced within the integrated supply chain, including eggs, potatoes, and meat. Translate data into actionable insights, developing new metrics and initiatives to drive continual improvement in food safety and quality. Engage effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels, exerting influence and managing conflicts constructively. Direct and participate in routine assessments of facilities, equipment, and personnel practices to proactively mitigate potential hazards and ensure regulatory compliance. Prepare the organization for heightened regulatory and customer expectations by developing enhanced quality and food safety programs across the supply chain. Identify areas of opportunity or concern related to Food Safety and Quality and develop appropriate solutions to address those concerns. Leverage continuous improvement tools and industry best practices to improve quality and food safety processes. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related technical degree. 10+ years of experience in quality management and quality systems discipline. Expertise in food safety and quality systems/requirements; including FSMA requirements, GSFI Food Standards, HACCP, cGMPs, cGLPs, and audit processes. Strong project management and change management skills. Skilled in complex problem-solving methodologies. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership and planning skills. PC proficient in Windows operating environment. Ability to travel (approximately 50-60%).
