JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise 3 Quality Technicians across 3 shifts.

  2. Maintain Quality Department budget by tracking supplies and labor hours against plan.

  3. Ensure that the work flow meets the demands of production by verifying that all quality activities are performed and reported in a proficient manner.

  4. Lead the investigation of customer concerns for cause and corrective action. Provide follow-up to ensure that the corrective action taken is affective.

  5. Perform plant food safety inspections, in-process inspections, mock recalls, and other inspections/audits as required.

  6. Develop and conduct annual GMP, HACCP, and other training as necessary.

  7. Update and create quality related materials for both internal and external customers as required

  8. Interface with Michael Foods corporate contacts, suppliers and customers in a professional manner.

  9. Enforce company policies in a fair and consistent manner.

  10. Participate in 3rd party and regulatory audits.

  11. Leads the development and implementation of the food safety fundamentals as well as the Company’s Food Safety Plan

  12. Is responsible for the maintenance of the SQF system, ensuring its integrity through validation and verification

  13. Validates and verifies the food safety fundamentals, the food safety plans, and, as appropriate, the food quality plans

  14. Validates any changes in the food safety fundamentals and the food safety plans

  15. Provide the necessary support to the organization to ensure that all food safety plans, programs and initiatives are properly executed and maintained.

  16. Provides a safe working environment.

  17. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.

  18. Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.

  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field and two years of experience performing similar work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Knowledge of quality systems and pre-requisite programs.

  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Demonstrate skill in leading, coaching, and supervising employees.

  • Ability to perform basic computer functions including spreadsheets, word processing, and e-mail.

  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.
