Location Description The Lawrence, Kansas facility is 236,000 square feet and home to about 155 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits®. Lawrence is a college town and the home to both the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University with Kansas State University about 85 miles away. The city is known for a thriving music and art scene and is also the home of the University of Kansas athletic teams. Responsibilities Responsibilities: Overall success of the planning function In partnership with the Operations Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor, facilitate and execute daily and weekly scheduling process Maintain an accurate, up-to-date backlog status Ensure the accuracy of the information on new maintenance work orders Entry of the transaction in EAM to convert work requests to work orders Visit the job site of all new maintenance work orders to confirm the scope of work and develop a preliminary estimate of labor and material requirements and record these decisions on the Planning Checklist Decide the level of planning applied to the work order Collect the information needed for the written job plan Determine the actual sequence of work (i.e., job steps) Identify the lockouts, tag-outs, and permits needed Verify that the job plan information is complete and accurate Estimate the labor hours needed to perform the work, both rough and detailed as required Determine parts, materials, and special tool requirements Provide a cost estimate to include labor, materials, and contract services Initiate pick lists for Storeroom parts and materials Write purchase requisitions for direct purchase of outside parts and materials Assemble the complete and final Job Package Communicate the information in the Job Package to the Maintenance Supervisor Ensure that all information needed to support the planning process is complete, accurate, and readily available to everyone Reconcile the demands for work (man-hours needed) with available resources on the Weekly Schedule and Shutdown Schedule Identify the need for manpower from other areas. Identify work that can be performed by Production Operators or Contractors as an alternative. Update the EAM files and backlog to reflect the work completed Update equipment history files with information that will improve the planning for future events Coordinate and exchange common planning information with other Planners Prepare the preliminary schedule for the Shutdown events. Facilitate the discussion during the various preliminary Shutdown meetings Publish and distribute the final Shutdown Schedule before the event Coordinate definition of manpower requirements for Shutdown events Uses MS Project to produce a "timeline" chart for the Shutdown Prepare the information and statistics for the post-Shutdown Lessons Learned Meeting Work on projects of limited complexity in a support role Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree (or equivalent work experience) in Technical or Manufacturing discipline required. BS / BA preferred Experience: In-depth understanding of plant production and packaging processes from a technical and procedural standpoint Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project 5 years of engineering or maintenance experience in a plant environment preferred; 3 years minimum Experience with EAM/CMM systems. Infor/Hexagon EAM experience is desirable Knowledge of maintenance management principles including but not limited to precision maintenance, preventive maintenance, shutdown and contingency planning Desire to work with maintenance disciplines as a team.
