The area is known for their manufacturing, farming (both livestock and grain), education, retailing, and wholesaling. Well-known as the home of Johnny Carson. Our location produces powdered and dehydrated meat and poultry products, for use in products such as seasonings, soups, and instant meals. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for safely preparing meat product for further processing; and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensure that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly in an effort to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrate safety as a top priority; follow all safety procedures and avoid all accidents; actively determine ways to improve safety; use appropriate safety equipment when required (ear plugs, rubber boots, safety glasses, face shields, aprons, bump caps, etc.) Use lockout/tag out procedures when required Maintain and operate all equipment in a safe manner to avoid injury to self or others Keep work area neat, clean and sanitary Report all work-related injuries or unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately Maintain good personal hygiene Follow instructions from supervisor and cooperate with coworkers and other departments; be willing to fill in where needed Maintain a positive attitude Watch and control flow of product Minimize product loss Must be able to reassemble machinery if taken apart Set up all equipment, including disintegrator, pumps, lines, conveyor, etc. Clean and sanitize all equipment. Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality Ensure regulatory compliance at all times Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Work Experience: Up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read, speak, write, and comprehend simple English instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Computer Skills: Some computer skills with Microsoft Office and Google. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, hot pipes and valves, pressurized steam and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Other Skills and Abilities: Must have good people skills with an ability to listen, understand, collaborate, communicate, and assure complete information. Teamwork is essential.
