Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for conducting food safety and quality testing in accordance with product specifications and validating that documentation is complete and accurate. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibilities and duties of a QA Technician include: Performs all quality testing for product requiring technical understanding of chemicals, lab equipment and measurements. Audit and document processing parameters pertinent to food safety and quality. Identify any product quality issues and immediately communicate issues/concerns to the department Lead, Production Supervisor, and FSQ Manager. Communicate all Quality and GMP concerns to the FSQ Manager or FSQ designee and Production Supervisor. Ensures all non-conforming product is placed on HOLD for further evaluation. Perform visual inspections on lines prior to start-up and conduct pre-op swabbing. Communicate any findings / problems from pre-op inspection to the department Lead, and FSQ designee (FSQ Manager). Perform chemical concentration testing on sanitizers and notify production when changes are necessary. Collect product samples for micro testing and retain library. Maintain laboratory programs within the quality department, including but not limited to GMPs, HACCP, SQF and sanitation programs. Effectively communicate relevant information to department Line Leader and to fellow employees. Assist in educating and training production employees in Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, SQF, Quality Systems requirements and Safety policies. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Adhere to all safety polices and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. . LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Food Handler’s Permit, Clark County Health Department OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to effectively work with others in a team environment. Good communication skills. Basic Math Skills.
