Bob Evans Farms products are distributed nationally in retailers throughout North America. Responsibilities Position Overview: The Transportation DOT & Safety Manager is responsible for managing the health and safety process for risk reduction, injury prevention, and DOT regulatory compliance at the Springfield, Ohio and Forney, Texas Transportation locations.. This role will be responsible for partnering with Operations Leadership to assess the effectiveness of safety and compliance policy/protocol efforts and assists with implementing strategies for continuous improvement. Accountabilities: Responsible for the planning and implementation of all safety policies and procedures established for the facility. Ensure strict compliance with all FMCSA regulations pertaining to hours of service, including training and education of drivers Maintain driver qualification files Oversee employee safety training programs, develop and administer training, monitor completion Review driver safety violations and make recommendations for remedial training when needed Assist drivers with ELD issues Responsible for completing all accident investigations, and reporting findings back to Transportation leadership. Manage insurance claims and accident response Oversee DOT drug and alcohol program, including pre-employment, post-accident and random drug testing Coordinates with Transportation leadership on safety/loss control issues. Actively participate as a lead Safety Committee member and facilitate monthly safety meetings. Conduct/assist new driver orientation and recommend any retraining needed for current employees. Authors, publishes, and administers e-log training program and retraining/counseling programs for drivers with out of service and other log violations that become apparent from the audit process. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years DOT experience, 2 years EHS experience Strong knowledge of DOT, environmental, health and safety laws and regulations Knowledge of safety standards for vehicles, transportation, and inspection requirements. Experience with accident investigations Experience with the Smith System, or other defensive driving systems. Program development, training development and delivery, safety audits, behavioral safety, and ergonomics. Worker’s compensation and OSHA recordkeeping experience desirable. Experience with Tenstreet and Samsara a plus Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
