8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm. Responsibilities Objective Be the change leader - lead and drive the transition of manufacturing sites from reactive to proactive Maintenance to increase manufacturing throughput and optimize manufacturing costs across our 10 plants Responsibilities In this role, you will be the leader to not only define the company strategy and vision for our Maintenance & Reliability journey to excellence, but also lead the execution and implementation of the standards, policies, processes, and tools to drive performance Safety always – Ensure compliance to all safety requirements for maintenance teams across the plants; identify safety improvement opportunities and gaps Identify both plant-specific needs and company-wide needs and develop into a Maintenance & Reliability program Educate senior leaders, functional partners, plant leaders, and plant personnel on maintenance & reliability best practices, concepts, tactics, and the value of M&R Utilizes a risk-based approach to identify appropriate maintenance strategies, opportunities for condition-based monitoring, time-based maintenance, and run-to-failure Develop financially-sound business cases to present the value of new tools, processes, and opportunities; present to leadership and other functional partners to convey the importance need of the investments. Champion the implementation of the company-standard CMMS (Maintenance Connection), identify & close gaps in usage to the standards, and identify optimization opportunities Use data & data science to drive decision-making and prioritization; identify gaps in data availability and data quality to drive improvements Leads development and owners of data visualization tools to implement a Maintenance KPI Dashboard Collaborate with functional leaders and operational leaders for joint function programs Key stakeholder in influencing reliability considerations for equipment selection, parts criticality and defining Preventative/Predictive Maintenance standards for asset standardization Collaborating with Project Engineers, support the Engineering Work process during Capital Project design, installation, start-up and acceptance of new and re-purposed assets, to ensure reliability and maintainability, including site acceptance testing to assure adherence to functional specifications and maintenance requirements. Collaborating with Procurement, participates in the development and selection criteria for evaluation MRO suppliers and Engineering/Maintenance service providers. Participates in the evaluation and implementation of new technological advances and assists with process improvement initiatives. Provide leadership as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Reliability tools and methods, including: Predictive Maintenance Data analysis techniques (SPC, Modeling, Fault Tree Analysis, Six Sigma 6σ) Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA) Failure Mode and Effect Criticality Analysis (FMECA) Collaborate with HR to asses & evaluate current maintenance staff and potential new hires, supporting training and capability building of local maintenance teams Coach, mentor, train and develop maintenance leaders to meet current and future business requirements. Qualifications Bachelors in Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree 10-15 years of progressive experience in reliability engineering, maintenance or related discipline 3-5 years’ experience in Continuous Improvement methodology; TPM preferred Preferred background in Food & Beverage / Chemicals / Pharma Professional certification as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) preferred Demonstrated knowledge and capability in statistical analysis tools and methodology Must be comfortable working on the factory floor and as part of a corporate engineering team Available for frequent travel to manufacturing sites (up to 50%) Competencies Leadership ability to influence, coach and develop colleagues not in a reporting relationship Demonstrated capability and successes in Reliability engineering, statistical data analysis and continuous improvement tools and methodology; TPM preferred Knowledge and practical experience in implementing, standardizing, and optimizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, and ERP Systems; Maintenance Connection and JDE preferred Demonstrated ability to drive change at multiple plants; ability to influence indirectly Knowledge and practical experience in data visualization tools; Tableau and/or Power BI preferred Results oriented and ability to deliver successful outcomes Ability to work independently across multiple sites and stakeholders, both internal and external Demonstrated experience in effectively leading and managing teams Financial acumen and ability to effectively manage and control costs Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills Strong planning skills, and the ability to follow-up and successfully execute plans Continuous improvement mindset with high change agility Ability to develop and deploy a disciplined approach to Engineering and Maintenance Excellent interpersonal and communications skills EQ (emotional quotient) awareness in self-management and engagement of others
