Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: This job is responsible for timely and efficient removal of poultry wastes and maintenance of belts, scrapers and augers at Wakefield Farms. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for timely and efficient removal of poultry wastes and working closely with driver when loading truck. Responsible for maintenance of pinch roller, scrapers (to include front scrapers, where applicable), augers, overhead stands & take up tubes. Responsible for notifying house person of water leaks and the location. Responsible for maintaining all manure belts as needed and notifying supervisor of any problems. Must use the lock-out/tag-out program. Responsible at all times for following and enforcing the Bio-Security Policy. Responsible at all times for using safety measures. May be responsible to operate tractor/spreader as needed. Must clean overhead rollers as needed. Must unwrap manure belts as needed. Pick up mortality from houses as needed. Help maintenance fix belts as needed. Maintain and turn in a daily log sheet for each house pulled. Report any problem areas. Responsible for working weekends, holidays and overtime as needed when pulling. May be responsible for locking all rear doors if pulling after house person’s shift is over. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Travel to and work at multiple locations. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Follow all UEP (United Egg Producers) Animal Welfare Program guidelines. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: EDUCATION: No prior experience or training. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: None required OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Self-motivated with a willingness to learn. Able to work independently. Effective communication skills, verbal and written and keeping open lines of communication with supervisor and co-workers in the waste removal and production departments. Good mechanical knowledge for Preventative Maintenance. Ability to communicate in English.
